Blast are Moscow's No1 English singing indie/rock/r'n'b band described by the NME as the godfathers of Vladrock the new indie rock movement sweeping Moscow.Blast were formed by Georgian singer/songwriter Noshrevan "Nash" Tavkhelidze and Russian Alexandre"Khlap(Clap)"Artchevski with Bulgarian musicans Vlado and Valio on rhythm section.First signed to British/Australian indie label Ghost Records.Released first single "Bury the Shoe Girl" recorded in Manchester produced by Mark Tolle(Stone Roses and The Mock Turtles).Distribution by Shellshock.
In 2004 recorded and released the track "Alright" which became an instant radio chart hit in Moscow and their debut album "F..k the Industry" in London at Spotlight Studios produced by Graham Pilgrim(3 Colour Red,The Stanglers,The Go-Betweens,Alabama 3 and The Vessels).1st UK tour playing 18 gigs over 21 days to promote their album including headlining University of Northampton and the "In the City" festival in Manchester.Received airplay on XFM and Radio 1.
In 2006 Blast recorded a 4 track mini CD in London produced by Russ Keffert (Crash Convention,The Rakes and Larrikin Love)
In 2007 Blast recorded their second album "Real Life" due to personal reasons Khlap left the band to be replaced by Misha from Moscow band Mothers Little Helpers.Blast released the track "Saturday Night" from the album with a mini London/UK summer festivals promo tour.
2009 producer & former senior Abbey Road studio engineer Chris Brown flew out to Moscow to record new tracks for their forth coming album "Strange Days Coming" released first in Russia late 2009 and in the UK 2010 on UK indie label 4Play Records.Last year Blast became a 5 piece with the introduction of Russian musician Seva on keyboards.
Blast won the spring/summer 2010 Overplay international song competition with the track Honey(Long Love).
Blast have spent a busy 2010 touring in the UK first in February playing at Bush Hall and The Garage in London and in July Blast went on their "Love Bitch" UK tour to promote the release of "Strange Days Coming".
Blast have performed and supported with many well known artists either in Moscow or in the UK.These include U2,Badly Drawn Boy,Blur,Muse,Razorlight,Franz Ferdinand.The Strokes,Starsailor,Brett Anderson,Supergrass,Florence & the Machine,The Paddingtons and The Holloways.
Blast are currently recording new tracks in Faust studio in Prague with Killing Joke guitarist Geordie Walker producing their next album scheduled for a 2011 release
